In 2020, John Holland Group were awarded the contract to undertake the construction works at Claremont station. Claremont station was closed, and the Fremantle line was partially shut down to complete the upgrade of Claremont station and build the two turnback sidings. Claremont station saw 579,729 passengers in the 2013–14 financial year.

Key Benefits:

  • Improved public transport between Claremont and CBD during peak
  • Direct Fremantle Line passenger access to the Airport Line
  • Refurbished station facilities, including improved accessibility to meet Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
  • Expanded bus facilities west of the station, on Gugeri Street
  • A pedestrian underpass to replace the western pedestrian level crossing and sustain north-south connectivity for passengers, pedestrians and cyclists
