These awards recognise civilian employers who demonstrate exceptional support for reservists in the Australian Defence Force, highlighting their commitment and contributions to the workforce. These awards celebrate employers who have gone above and beyond to assist their reservist employees, whether through flexible work arrangements, training opportunities, or other supportive measures. The awards are held annually, and DCL was a nominee in the Medium Private Sector category.
In this instance DCL was nominated by its Business Manager who is an Officer in the Australian Army, currently posted to the Headquarters of the 1st Australian Division. His nomination described the outstanding support and flexibility provided to him by DCL which allowed to meet his Defence service requirements, and particularly, to be able to deploy for extensive periods of time at short notice despite the inconvenience this caused the business, and the measures that had to be put in place to cover his duties.
These awards not only provide recognition to employers but also promote a culture of support and understanding between civilian workplaces and the Defence Force. By acknowledging the contributions of employers, the awards help to strengthen the relationship between reservists and their civilian jobs, ultimately benefiting both parties and enhancing Defence capability.
DCL is a proud supporter of Defence, its veterans and the Reservist who work in the business.
