Deploying renewable energy infrastructure is critical for FMG to achieve Real Zero by 2030. FMG is creating a renewable energy ecosystem by building solar farms, wind installations, battery storage systems, and a 750km transmission network, Pilbara Energy Connect (PEC). This network is designed to integrate FMG’s operations into a unified, green-powered grid. This particular part of the project consists of a battery storage system for the power generated from the new solar farm constructed at the Iron Bridge FMG Mine site.
DCL’s scope included the supply and installation of all required formwork, reinforcement, concrete, HD Manufactured cast-in frames, plates, and bolts for the construction of the following elements, which will later form the basis of the electrical storage infrastructure. The project consists of a total of six BESS areas, which will house the batteries required. Each BESS consists of a total of 57 varying-sized slabs and 79 electrical pits of various sizes and depths.
