Project :
ROCKINGHAM WASTE TO ENERGY PROJECT
Sector :
Government & Transport Infrastructure
Service :
Formwork, Reinforcement & Concrete Works, Piling Works, Labour Hire & Plant Hire
Location :
Rockingham, Perth, WA
Client :
Acciona
Year :
2020
Project Summary :

DCL worked in conjunction with Geotechnical Engineering Pty Ltd (Geotech), a subsidiary of Acciona, and we played a pivotal role in the early civil works of the East Rockingham Waste to Energy (ERWTE) project in Perth, Western Australia. Their primary responsibility was the execution of the secant wall piling works, essential for the structural integrity of the facility’s bunker area along with over 480 piles from 600-1200mm diameter and up to 34 meters deep across the project.

Geotech completed the secant wall piling for the bunker area, a critical component designed to support the facility’s heavy infrastructure and ensure stability during operations. DCL teamed up with Geotech to compete all works around excavation, Pile Trimming and FRP of pile caps ensuring all areas were prepared for subsequent construction phases following the substructure works.

The ERWTE facility, located at 26 Office Rd, East Rockingham, is a significant development in Australia’s renewable energy landscape. Once operational, it is expected to process up to 300,000 tonnes of residual waste and 30,000 tonnes of biosolids annually, generating approximately 29 megawatts of electricity—enough to power over 36,000 homes.
