Project Summary :

The Project will extend Stephenson Avenue from Scarborough Beach Road to Cedric Street, including a new Mitchell Freeway Interchange replacing the freeway interchange at Cedric Street. It will also provide a Smart Freeway southbound on-ramp with coordinated signals. New local road links will be delivered between Stephenson Avenue and Ellen Stirling Boulevard to better connect key activity hubs, including Westfield Construction is now underway for Stephenson Avenue Extension Phase Two.

May 2022 Innaloo Shopping Centre, the Osborne Park industrial area and the broader Stirling City Centre. The project also includes an upgrade to the Stirling Bus Interchange for the Public Transport Authority (PTA), upgrading the 18-stand facility to a 30-stand bus interchange and a new pedestrian concourse between Stirling Station and the southern car park.

The Project Scope of Work for this Project included:

Phase Two will deliver the following:

  • Stephenson Avenue extension from Howe Street (new road) to Mitchell Freeway and Cedric Street
  • Stephenson Avenue grade separated interchange with Mitchell Freeway (Stephenson Ave bridge over Mitchell Freeway and Joondalup Railway)
  • New road connecting Sarich Court to Cedric Street on west side of the freeway (including a new bridge for Stephenson Avenue)
  • New Principal Shared Path (PSP) on the eastern side of Mitchell Freeway (from Telford Crescent to Civic Place including an underpass under Stephenson Ave)
  • New shared Paths along Stephenson Avenue and connections to the PSP
  • Modifications to Cedric Street from the Freeway interchange to the Stirling Station car park access
  • New Access to Stirling Station car park
  • An upgrade to Stirling Bus Interchange from an 18-stand to 30-stand facility
  • Landscaping and revegetation.
